RE: When will this bubble burst??

Everything including oil is worth exactly what someone is willing to pay for it right now. Nothing more, nothing less.

RE: Looking to put a small car into a toy hauler

Maybe I am not good at math, but is there really any possibility of a payback in buying a different trailer, and a different vehicle just to save a few dollars on gas when not towing???

RE: Do you empty your TT?

Also, a sign doesn't take them completely off the hook does it? I gave them a locked trailer and there was no forced entry, so some time while they were working on it, it was left open and items were stolen. So, that to me seems negligent. On the other hand I was negligent in leaving personal items in the trailer.
In all states that I have had a business in, the law is that if the business owner takes reasonable steps to secure your property then he is not negligible. In the case of an automobile or RV, inside a locked fenced area is considered reasonable. In my previous reply on the car stereo, my business was in a strip mall area and I did not have a fenced area. It cost me about double for my insurance, however I only had three claims in 12 years. In the case of forced entry, just like you cannot prove you left it locked you also cannot prove that the dealer left it unlocked. With most trailers having only six to ten different keys for the whole fleet, the professional RV thieves have keys.

RE: Do you empty your TT?

Replace the receiver with a decent aftermarket unit. A thief deserves to have the original equipment in an RV in his stereo system.
I agree 100%.
Buy the way, I used to own an auto repair shop and I had a new customer come in and leave his car for repair the next day. The next morning he came in to get something out of the car and reported to me that the stereo was stolen. He claimed it was a $1000 unit and because he could no longer trust me he would not be leaving it to be fixed. Then he said he would take $500 cash instead of waiting for my insurance to send him a check. I called my insurance company and they asked me to see if he had a receipt and the serial number. I asked the person and he said yes. The insurance company said call the police. It turned out that this customer had reported his stereo stolen at two other repair shops that had the same insurance as I did. It was a pleasure to watch him being arrested in my lot and watching the vehicle being hooked up to be towed to impound.

RE: Our First "Puckering" Experience

Has anyone else encountered these devils and what exactly are they?
They are caused by strong thermals. When the hot air rizes quickly it creates a vortex action. Just the opposite of water down a drain.
They are very common anywhere in the West on a hot day. Their air speeds are measured usually in the 20 to 40 MPH range. They can get stronger though.

RE: Not accepting credit cards

.There is no way those fees haven't been passed along to us all along.
If you ever owned a business then you would understand that credit cards are really not your friend. Just one feature like "cash back" should tell you that taking extra money from the merchant and returning it back to the customer is not right. Cards giving this cash back certainly are passing the extra cost back to the merchant. There are also other concerns of competition and in businesses that run profits in the 7% range, paying 2 to 4% to someone on each transaction is difficult. In the time of gas doubling in price the cost of a transaction fee has also doubled without costing the card companies one penny more to transact. The gas stations averaged 10 to 12 cents a gallon profit (competition forces this) before the recent price jumps and they average the same now. However the credit card companies profits have more than doubled. That is why Mobil has recently put up all their gas station in the U.S. for sale. The retail gas station operator is not doing well right now.

RE: Wide Steps?

The problem with extensions are if you add two inches to the top step you have to add four inches to the bottom step. However on the Jayco site (I was looking at larger trailers:B) I see that they are saying they have a new wider step, but they do not say how wide. I will look into that by calling Jayco. Thanks for your help.
Found what I wanted. They are Hickory Springs "Big Easy" steps. They are 10" wide and come in two and three steps.

RE: Home equity.....in a far away galaxy .......last year

As I read the below, it occured to me that we on this very forum have had many discussions about selling, renting, or not fulltiming, due to home equity and the values of same.
You read what I read and tell me who the smart one are.
"In fact, Americans' equity in their homes - usually their single biggest asset - now has dropped to the lowest level on ****record in figures going back to the end of World War II. Homeowners' portion of equity fell to 46.2 percent, which means the amount of debt tied up in their homes exceeds the equity they have built up."
Yep keep that albatross.
This has nothing to do with home ownership. This has to do with people taking out their equity in second mortgages (mostly to buy toys such MH's, TT's, etc.). We have had a bad year but my home which has increased over 100% in the past ten years only decreased by about 2% in the last year.

RE: funny DURO tire story

My Dealer has told me that if I change to Titan radial tires and remove the Duro's then Jayco will not warranty any tire damage to the trailer if they blow. If I leave on the Duro's they will fix the trailer if needed. I guess I will just run the Duro's for the two year warranty period.

RE: Removing interior walls

Thank you for taking the time in regards to the removal of the living
room wall.Jayco does not recommend any type of modification to our
units. If you did choose to make this modification I can assure you your
ceiling will eventually sag. As well any defects that occur in
conjunction will not be covered under the warranty. I am sorry as I am
sure this isn't the answer you were looking for but I honestly do not
recommend this.

Removing interior walls

Has anyone removed interior walls on their travel trailer? I have a Jayco Jay Flight 22FB and desire to remove the wall between the bed and the living area. It looks like it is put together with a few screws and staples and not much more. Any help would be appreciated.

RE: Montana registration to save taxes??

I don't get that...how is new owner responsible for previous owners penalties???? That's like saying you are responsible for the unpaid parking tickets after you buy a used car...
It is just like buying a house that has liens on it. Unfortunately they do not offer title insurance on TT's. Persons in Colorado are paying very stiff fines. In the tens of thousands of dollars in some cases.

RE: Here is a new twist!

Maybe they just wanted to borrow a 12 volter to get tongue jack to work, or RV to start? We'll never know, but it might NOT have been crooks. Did storage lot report a theft of a 12 volter?
This might be the correct answer. My trailer is stored in a conventional storage area and only has room for two trailers. The other was gone on a trip. I reported my event to the manager today and he said he did have to give someone a jumpstart yesterday.

Here is a new twist!

Went to the storage area today to get the empty propane tanks off my trailer for refill and found my battery trays open and the batterys half disconnected. Also found a note that said, "sorry, I was looking for 12V batteries". Mine are six volt.
